The logic behind repealing the Smith-Mundt Act?
What is the Smith-Mundt Act?
Maybe you do not know so here is a general overview:
Basically, it refers to The US Information and Educational Exchange Act of 1948 (Public Law 80-402)
Although there are many details in this law, in a nut shell it prevented the USA from using the media to spread war and military propaganda on the public media outlets within it’s own borders. There is a bit more to it than that, but that is the general gist of the law.
This law has been in effect since 1948, yet in January of 2013 that law was repealed. Since July 2, 2013 it has been perfectly legal for the government to spread propaganda on the local media outlets.
In other words, if it sways popular opinion in matters of war, it is complete legal for them to make the whole story up!
Yes, my fellow Americans… use your brains for a moment. It is COMPLETELY LEGAL for the Department of Defense to completely FABRICATE news stories to influence public opinion on matters of war.
Let me ask you a question. Have you ever been watching a movie that you are consciously aware that it is fiction, yet you had an emotional reaction?
I mean have you ever cried, or cheered for a character in a movie that you paid to see knowing full well that it is a fictional account?
Have you ever been caught up in a made for television drama, forgetting for just a moment that it simply just isn’t real?
There are some great script writers out there and some wonderful special effects artists who can do amazing things with a very low budget.
Now, just imagine having a nearly unlimited budget and being able to produce so called “News” that is completely fabricated.
Do you think that your Government would never do that to you?
If so, (using just a tad bit of logic) why was this Law repealed?
With all the messes and problems the government has, we all know governments inability to get hardly any bills passed at all.
How did this even move to the front of the line to be acted upon so quickly and quietly?
Perhaps, you merely have the perception of the “news” being legitimate or REAL?
Are you familiar with the Milgram Experiment? ( I suggest you Google it if not)
A little bit of logic and a bit of curiosity has to make you wonder how much of what comes out of the news media is real at all.
Is there really more domestic terrorism?
Are be-headings REALLY happening?
Did you see it yourself, or did you read about it or see it on the news? If so, does that make it true?
Maybe, just maybe it is simply government created propaganda made to persuade public opinion on new Homeland Defense and wars for oil and drugs overseas?
Honestly, I do not know. I will say this, it sure makes me wonder at times.
Maybe the real conspiracy is what is being jammed into your head by the media outlets.
